The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor course is to train instructor candidates to teach the basic-level American Red Cross Advanced Life Support course.

PREREQUISITES

Advanced Life Support Instructor candidates must possess a valid basic-level certification in Advanced Life Support or equivalent.

INSTRUCTOR LED: NO INSTRUCTOR LED OPTION FOR THIS COURSE

BLENDED LEARNING: APPROX. 2 HOURS ONLINE / 6.5 - 7 HOURS IN PERSON

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

COURSE MATERIALS

TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT INSTRUCTOR (ALSI) COURSE, CANDIDATE MUST:

  1. Attend and actively participate in all course sessions.

  2. Demonstrate competency in all required skills.

  3. Demonstrate competency in leading a team response during the team response testing scenarios.

  4. Successfully pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 80%. 

All instructor candidates must have a print or digital version of the following program materials:

• American Red Cross Advanced Life Support Instructor’s Manual for Instructor-Led Training

• American Red Cross Advanced Life Support Instructor’s Manual for Blended Learning

• American Red Cross Advanced Life Support Participant’s Manual
