The primary purpose of the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) course is to train Healthcare Providers the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide single-rescuer and team basic life support CPR skills, use and AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner.  This course is designed for healthcare professionals both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

COURSE MATERIALS

TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE [AHA] BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) COURSE, CANDIDATE MUST:

  1. Attend and actively participate in all course sessions.

  2. Demonstrate competency in all required skills.

  3. Demonstrate competency in leading a team response during the team response testing scenarios.

  4. Successfully pass the final written exam with a minimum grade of 84%.
